Judges
The Photo Annual selects a specialized panel of judges that focus within their particular area of expertise. They are encouraged to judge image first, followed by design. Production or print quality do not play a crucial role.

Category Requirements

1 Advertising: Tearsheets must be submitted accompanied by the original image itself in the form of transparencies or photo prints with high-res digital files for reproduction.
2 Magazine, Editorial: Tearsheets must be submitted accompanied by the original image itself in the form of transparencies, photo prints and high res digital file.
3 Photo Books: Submit an unmarked copy of the entire book. Photo books must be published.
4 Photojournalism, Sports, Documentary: Tearsheets must be submitted (if published) accompanied by the image itself in the form of transparencies, photo prints, and high res digital files.
5 Corporate, Industrial: Submit actual brochures, annual reports, calendars, catalogues, music/CD covers, book covers, movie posters.
6 Personal: Personal work includes self-promo pieces, self-published books, outtakes from magazine/editorial shoots. Submit prints and materials that can be reproduced for the magazine and web site.
7 Stock Photography/Outtakes: Images (published or unpublished) that were produced for or art directed for stock, or outtakes from assignment shoots that are now available for relicensing. No tearsheets.
8 Web Sites: Submit URL address. Web sites are judged equally on image and design.
9 Student Work: Submit materials/ prints that can be reproduced for the magazine. Please submit contact information that will be valid at the time of the judging.

This competition is open to work produced or published between January 1, 2005-January 1, 2006. Entries must be submitted as proofs, tearsheets, finished printed pieces or transparencies, with a high-res digital file for reproduction and you must include a hard copy or printed version (category 7 excluded). Hard copies are judged, digital files are for reproduction purposes only See category requirements for specifics. Submitted materials cannot be returned. All entries must be postmarked by January 15, 2006.
Winners/ Publication/ Prizes/ Scholarships
An award celebration for the winners will take place in May 2006 in New York, New York. The winners and their work will be featured in the May issue of PDN and PDN Online.
Awards
The Marty Forscher Fellowship recognizes students and young professionals with a talent for humanistic photography. The fund will award two grants in 2006. Photographers are eligible by entering humanistic documentary images to the PDN Photo Annual. The Fellowship is sponsored by Parsons and Photo District News.
